Every moment is important
I’m writing this tip on a Sunday night when the office is officially closed for the Bank Holiday Monday. It’s being written after I also spent a couple of hours or so putting together some content for our next webinar and writing a flyer advertising our new RMI owner/manager forums.
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m no geek or workaholic – I’m sitting here with a glass of wine and have great music playing (The Airborne ‘Toxic Event’ if interested) – had a great day with my kids playing tennis and had some family round later – BUT – I’ve grabbed the chance to get some work done of a proactive nature rather than just sit in front of a square box and get nothing positive from it. At this time of night it’s pretty difficult to find a decent programme anyway!
Talking of television, though, did you see that recent Will Smith interview? When asked why he is as good at acting as he is, Mr Smith simply said “I work harder at it, think about it more and try to improve my technique more than other people in my industry.”
What if this one tip inspires one person to book on a course with Recruitment Matters? What if one person who reads this takes 30 minutes out of a weekend or late at night and thinks through how to break into a stubborn possible client? What if, what if…? Well, I know one “what if” – IF I had sat in front of the television watching late Sunday night rubbish I wouldn’t have enhanced anything. For alternatives to late Sunday night think train journey to work… on the running machine at the gym… in the reception waiting to meet a client.
Work harder at your chosen profession, ask more questions, speak to more people and grab the chance to do something proactive when you can. If you do take up this tip you will reap the rewards. Want to bill more? Then work harder than your competition at getting better at what you do.
